SUMMARY OF SERVICE:
18 Mar 1985 - Corporal Joseph Allen Leonard Strong was born in Plattsburgh, New York to Allen Lewis Strong and Terri J. (Johnson) Strong.
He moved with his family to Lebanon at the age of three and lived north of Lebanon until he entered the U.S. Army.
2003 - Graduate of Western Boone High School where he participated in baseball.
He participated in wrestling and football before concentrating on baseball in high school. He attended J. Everett Light in Indianapolis where he studied law enforcement. He had been employed at Gander Mountain in Lebanon and in his grandparents’ restaurant, the New Ross Steakhouse. He enjoyed his family, cars, sports, fishing, guns and four-wheelers.
7 Jan 2005 - He joined the Army and was assigned to Echo Company, 1st Battalion, 50th Infantry Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia where he attended Infantry One Station Unit Training and, subsequently, the Army Basic Airborne Course.
Upon completion of Infantry OSUT and Airborne School, CPL Strong arrived at Fort Richardson, Alaska where he was assigned to Dog Company, 3rd Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment. While assigned to Dog Company, CPL Strong served as a Driver, Rifleman, Squad Designated Marksman, M-240 Gunner, and MK-19 Gunner. He is a graduate of the Combat Lifesaver Course, Combatives Level 1.
26 Dec 2006 - Army CPL. Joseph A. Strong, assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 509th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division died of injuries sustained when the vehicle he was in was involved in a rollover incident in Baghdad while serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
